Good morning! Whether we know our call/purpose or not, we all need a little encouragement. God is not finished yet. Join us as we continue in Acts chapter 13. Enjoy your day and weekend.

Bible Verse– Acts 13:13-15 NLT

“¹³ Paul and his companions then left Paphos by ship for Pamphylia, landing at the port town of Perga. There John Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ But Paul and Barnabas traveled inland to Antioch of Pisidia.

On the Sabbath they went to the synagogue for the services. ¹⁵ After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message: “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it.””

Things to point out

• Paul is now the focal leader – Paul and his companions.

• John Mark left Paul and Barnabas.

Reflection

Paul and Barnabas went to numerous places sharing the Good News of Jesus. While pursuing their call, they continued to honor the Sabbath and listened to/attended service in the synagogue. However, this day was unique – in the presence of Jewish believers Paul and Barnabas were asked to share a word of encouragement. Paul and Barnabas had an open invitation to speak.

Sisters and brothers, in our lives we will be given opportunities to pursue our calling, to share our purpose and to lead by example. Sometimes it will be in the most unexpected places. As we continue to seek God we will become more aware of what God is actively doing around us. He will give us wisdom to help and encourage one another in faith and during trials.

Some days the very idea that you must continue to press on will be exhausting. Sometimes the battle from within may leave you paralyzed and unable to move with haste. However even then, God is at the center of our existence. He has given us hope for a better day, a better tomorrow and an eternal future. May I encourage you to continue to focus on Christ Jesus today. Trust Him and allow Him to use you to encourage others.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for calling us to a unique purpose and at this specific time in our lives. There is no one greater than You. Lord, lead us Your way. Help us to be a blessing to others and not simply receivers. Lord, direct our steps and surround us with people who love – truly love you, who will encourage our faith and our trust in you. Lord, build us up to be salt and light in the world. Lord, may our lives be a great witness of You working within us. Lord, comfort those who are grieving. Heal those who are sick and relieve them of their pain. Lord, keep us in your perfect peace – keep our minds steadfast on you. Help us to get suited up in Your armor – from the top of our heads to the soles of our feet so that we will be living witnesses of your goodness and faithfulness. In Jesus name, amen.
