Happy Friday! We made it to the end of the week and God is still on the throne. Praise God. Today, we will begin our reading in Colossians chapter threewith Apostle Paul explaining to the believers at Colosse about their (our) new life in Christ.
Bible verse – Colossians 3:1-4 NLT
“ 1 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
Reflection
Apostle Paul was reminding the believers of who they are in Christ. He was sharing with them the significance of their new life in Christ so that they/we would set our eyes on the realities heaven – that Christ reigns and He will return.
Sisters and brothers, in the meantime as we wait for Christ’s return, we must not forget that when we gave our lives to Christ we died to our sinful nature and our lives are secure in Christ and we were reconciled back into relationship with God through Christ Jesus.
Let us set aside our old sinful practices/behaviors that attempts to rule us. Those old things were defeated at the cross. We no longer need to live in bondage to those old things. Since we are free in Christ, let us live as Christians and be imitators of Christ. Let us live and walk in this world as representatives of Christ in all our ways.
If we desire change in this world it must begin with Christian’s (us) living with Christ in them and allowing our everyday lives to be a reflection of it.
Question to ponder:
- How are you displaying this in your home, at work and in your relationships with others?
Prayer
Father God thank you for being with us this week. Father God, we know this has been a difficult week for many, but You still brought us through it. Father, when we think about your goodness and mercy there is nothing that we can compare it to. We thank you for sending Jesus. We are grateful for the salvation that we have received through Christ. We are grateful for being reconciled to you. Lord, help us to live our new life in Christ. Help us to fix our eyes on you. Lord, be with those who are grieving the loss of family. Lord, be with those who are not well. Lord, be with those making life decisions. Lord, be with the children in our communities and protect them from harm. In Jesus name, amen.
