Limitless

Happy Tuesday! When I think about some of our natural inabilities as humans such as flying, walking on the moon, swimming thousands of feet below water, etc. I think about the various workarounds that were created to fly by airplane, skydiving, parasailing, and space ship. As we finish the final verses in the book of Philippians, we will recap on Apostle Paul’s limitations in the hands of God who has no limits.

Bible verse: Philippians 4:21-23 NLT

21 Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings. 22 And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.

23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.”

Reflection

It is interesting to read Apostle Paul’s closing. Through out the book of Philippians he encouraged and thanked the church at Philippi. We are also informed that Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter. Yet, in the closing we learn Paul is not alone. He noted the brothers with him, the rest of God’s people – especially those in Caesar’s house. It is apparent that the Lord was in the midst and He did not waste one detail of Paul’s life. Not one detail – from the prison, to his visitors, to the very household of Caesar – the Good News of Jesus Christ was made known and people believed.

Apostle Paul did not allow his circumstances to hinder (limit) the spread of the Good News. While in chains he shared the message of Jesus Christ with prisoners and guards who became Christians.

Sisters and brothers, I have a few questions for you to ponder.

  • What limitations are you facing today? _______
  • Are you willing to trust those “limitations” to Christ – the One who gives us strength? _______

Don’t look at your circumstances through your own eyes, keep your eyes focused on the One who desires to use you and your circumstances for His glory.

  • Will you allow the Lord to use you/your life to share the Good News through word, deed, action, prayer, finances, wisdom, education or any other spiritual gift(s)?

Pray about it, ask the Lord where and how He wants to use you. Then ask Him to take the lead.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit as you allow the Lord to lead.

Prayer

Father God thank you for the examples of faith, courage and love written in the book of Philippians. Lord, we thank you for the example of the early church and for Paul – your faithful servant who endured so much to ensure people knew how to be saved, that they knew Christ and were challenged to become more like Christ each day. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your son Jesus who came to save us and reconcile us back to you. We thank you for the Holy Spirit that lives within us and leads us with wise counsel. Lord, help our ears to be attuned, our hearts to be soften, our minds to be receptive, and our will to be surrendered to You. Lord, there is no one like you. Thank you for your unfailing love and for turning our darkest situations to light. You are so faithful. We know there are no limits with You – use us as you see fit. We thank you and love you. In Jesus name, amen.
