Happy Friday! We made to the end of the week and to the final verses in Act chapter 20. Enjoy today’s devotion and your weekend.
Bible Verse
“32 “And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself.
33 “I have never coveted anyone’s silver or gold or fine clothes. 34 You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me. 35 And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
36 When he had finished speaking, he knelt and prayed with them. 37 They all cried as they embraced and kissed him good-bye. 38 They were sad most of all because he had said that they would never see him again. Then they escorted him down to the ship.” – Acts 20:32-38 NLT.
Reflection
Paul lead with boldness of faith, faithfulness to the word, obedience to the Holy Spirit, and stood firm in what he believed. Paul reminded the Ephesian leaders of his character as he preached and shared the gospel, reminding them to help those in need instead of taking from the needy.
Sisters and brothers, let us be women and men of godly character wherever we go and in whatever we do or say. Let us be humble and compassionate with those in need – no matter their status. Let us leave a legacy that always points people to our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
One Thing to ponder
“The Lord Jesus said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
- How will you bless others today, this weekend, and/or in this season?
- Pray and ask the Lord to show and direct you on how to bless others, then follow through with an obedient heart.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for waking us up to see another day. Lord, thank you for the boldness of faith that you put on the inside of each us. Forgive us for the times when we did not speak about you or give you glory,, when you deserved all the credit. Lord, we know we can do nothing of value without you. Lord equip us and teach us to be like you. Help us to share your love and truth everyday. Cause our hearts and minds to yearn for you, to crave quiet time with you, to seek peace in you. Lord, do not let us forget the reason why we worship and serve you.
Lord, may the legacy that we will one day leave behind always point others to you. Lord, we pray for each woman attending the retreat tomorrow. We pray that the words that will be spoken are filled with the Holy Spirit and that lives will be changed because of your truth, love, grace, and mercy. Lord, we trust you and are confident that your word will not return void. Lord, have your way in all of us. We surrender all the details to you. In Jesus name, amen.
