The Next Step

Good morning! Have you ever tried to accomplish a task, but it seemed like every step you took forward put you two steps behind? Did you give up on that task or did you keep pushing forward? Join me today as we begin our reading in Acts chapter fourteen. Have a wonderful day.

Bible verse

“The same thing happened in Iconium.[a] Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish synagogue and preached with such power that a great number of both Jews and Greeks became believers. Some of the Jews, however, spurned God’s message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas. But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders. But the people of the town were divided in their opinion about them. Some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

Then a mob of Gentiles and Jews, along with their leaders, decided to attack and stone them. When the apostles learned of it, they fled to the region of Lycaonia—to the towns of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding area. And there they preached the Good News.” – Acts 14:1-7 NLT

Reflection

Paul and Barnabas went from one place to the next without being deterred by the leaders who were against them. Persecution increased, but so did the number of believers and the Good News spread. God remained faithful, and miracles and signs proved Paul and Barnabas’ message of the Good News was/is true. Yet, there were some who did not receive in their hearts the Good News.

Sisters and brothers, let me encourage you to remain faithful in hope knowing no weapon formed against you will prosper. Stay focused on God, the Creator of the world, the One who holds you in His hands. Keep leading others to Christ. Keep sharing the Good News that the Messiah “Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said” (1 Corinthians 15:3b-4a), so that all who believe can be saved and reconciled to God.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for another gracious and glorious day. Lord God, thank you for being patient with us. Lord, you know the difficulties we face, but Lord we know that you are greater than any problem we might experience or are walking through. Lord, we ask for you to touch your children today and to give us your strength and power to accomplish all that is ahead of us. Lord, we don’t want to miss an opportunity to serve you. Humble our hearts and align our thoughts to focus on you. Lord, make us bold and brave. Keep us and work through us each day of our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
