Good morning! Have you noticed that sometimes you can be doing everything right, but still receive resistance from people who don’t understand what God has called you to do? Well don’t worry, today we will continue our reading in Acts 9:26-27 with Saul trying to do the right thing. Enjoy today’s reading and prayer.
Bible verse:
“26 When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer! 27 Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. He also told them that Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus in Damascus.” – Acts 9:26-27 NLT
Key points:
- Saul is back in Jerusalem.
- Belivers did not believe Saul had changed.
- Barnabas spoke up in Saul’s defense.
Saul left Jerusalem to go persecute belivers in Damascus and put them in jail. But, the Lord met Saul on the Damascus road, transformed Saul’s life and changed his plan. Instead of persecuting believers he began to set captives free with the word of God – the message of Jesus.
Now Saul went back in Jerusalem with a new mission and purpose. Sisters and brothers, sometimes you may find yourself headed in one direction and then the Lord will shift the plan. Not only will the Lord shift your plan, but there may be doubters amongst those who knew you before the Lord redirected you. Take courage and continue to do what God has called you to do.
Saul could have easily given up, when other believers scattered away, but he didn’t. Sisters and brothers, keep pressing forward in Christ. His plan is greater and it is good. Just like Barnabas came beside Saul, the Lord will bring other Christian brothers and sisters to stand with you and encourage you as you pursue the Lord’s plans and purpose for your life.
- What road are you on?
- Will you allow the Lord to meet you there and re-route your plans?
Prayer
Father God thank you for all that you do for us. Thank you for loving us and equipping us in your mighty strength. Lord, you have been faithful. Lord, you are worthy of all our praise. Lord, forgive us for the times when we were discouraged by things we thought would be easy or thought was your plan and then things shifted. Lord, create in us a heart that is pure and the boldness to stand and share the message of hope in Jesus Christ. Lord, we know that there will be obstacles and people against us, but greater is He that is in us, than he who is in the world. Lord, send us. Lord, we pray for those who are suffering persecution around the world 🌎. We pray for believers in India, China, Africa (e.g., the Middle East, Nigeria, etc.,) South America (e.g., Boliva), Canada and North America – hear their cries for mercy and help deliver/lighten the load of those under persecution. Lord, we need you. Cover and shield your children, give us the peace and courage to continue to teach, live in obedience to your word and be faithful examples of Christ living on the inside of us. Lord Jesus have your way. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen!
