They Were Healed

Happy Friday! The power of God at work cannot be dismissed. Even with the Sanhedrin against Peter and John, the word of God continued and the name of Jesus was still professed.

12 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.” – Acts 5:12-16 NLT

Sisters and brothers Peter and John could have given up and conceded to the Sanhedrin but they remained faithful to call on their lives. They were strengthened by the Holy Spirit, they were built up and united with other believers, and continued to preach in the name of Jesus.

As a result of their faithfulness more believers continued to believe and numbers were added. Also, the word didn’t say many people were healed, it said all the people were healed.

Sisters and brothers, if you thought about giving up, don’t give up yet. The enemy will not win. Anchor yourself in faith and keep your eyes on God. Questions to ponder today and over the weekend:

  • What is God calling you to do?
  • How are you being challenged to walk by faith?
  • What are you believing God to do in your life? In your home? In your community?

Father God you know everything. You know the condition of our hearts, the pain we feel when injustice continues to destroy lives and destabilizes communities and people. Father God we need an Acts 2 awakening in our country. We need believers stepping up and standing in the gap for people in our nation and for racial reconciliation. Father God we need miracles to happen and healing to take place. We need our sick friends, children and family members healed in the name of Jesus. Father we need our nations hearts to change in the name of Jesus. Father we need division to be removed and bridges of dialogue, love, compassion and restoration built. Lord only you can do the things that need to happen here in America. Only you can cure the racism that exists around the world. Lord just as you gave the disciples the charge to go forth, and you sent the promised Holy Spirit to strengthen them and make them bold in your name – make us bold in your name. Lord equip us with wisdom and discernment to begin to change the narrative of the land so that you can heal us – all of us. In Jesus name we pray, all these things, amen.

Keep praying for country, for our sisters and brothers who are hurting.
