Happy Thursday! If you are reading this today, praise God because the Lord has seen us to a new year and decade. The new year is in motion. Which means He still has work for us to do on this side of heaven. Today, we will conclude 2 Corinthians chapter 3 with Paul explaining the benefits of the New Covenant to the Corinthian church. Join me as we finish the chapter.
“12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14 But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15 Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.
16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” – 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 NLT
Often we are bound by old beliefs and traditions that keep us from experiencing God on a deeper level. We are bound by fears, fears that keep us in bondage because we are afraid of what others may think about us if we were truly obedient to what God is asking of us. However, the New Covenant is grand because of Christ ‘s victory and the transforming work of the Spirit.
Sister and brothers, may today be the day that you truly see and reflect the glory of the Lord. May His will be done in our lives and may this year be a year of glorious transformation where the Lord – who is Spirit makes us more like him. It’s time for us to be bold and stand firm in what we believe. Jesus came and died for us so that we can be saved, set free from sin and eternal death.
Walk in the freedom the Lord gives.
Father God, thank you for this glorious morning. Thank you for searching our hearts and seeing us for who we truly are in you. Lord, you’ve seen us at our worst, in our disobedience, with hardened hearts and anger, and yet you still love us with all our flaws. Lord, thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to comfort us and correct us when our flesh wants to take charge of the things we say or desire to do. Lord, give us an obedient heart and direct us in all of our ways. Lord, open our eyes, remove any veil that keeps us from experiencing the truth of who you are, so that we can know you more intimately, and see and reflect the glory of you every day. Lord, may your spirit always be with us so that we will walk in the freedom that you give. Lord, continue to make us more like you. In Jesus name, amen.
