Rescue Us

Happy Friday! Sisters and brothers, sometimes we simply need to remember where our strength and help comes from. The Lord is our rock and our shield. He is our help in the time of struggles and our joy every morning. God’s faithfulness is greater than anything on this earth. Join me today as we read 2 Corinthians chapter 1 and learn about the struggles Paul and Timothy encountered on their missionary journey. Have a wonderful day and weekend.

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters,[b] about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. 10 And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. 11 And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.” – 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 NLT

As we read Paul’s testimony of God’s deliverance/rescue, I’m certain we can think about the many encounters in which God has rescued us. Where we have also been pressed on every side and are in need of being rescued from our situation(s). Our testimony about God’s faithfulness offers comforting words to others who maybe experiencing trials. Therefore sisters and brothers never reduce or shrink back about the way God has delivered or rescued you. We also cannot discount Revelation 12:11a, where the word says “And they have defeated him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” Jesus Christ (the blood of the Lamb) already defeated the enemy who still desires to oppress us, the testimony God has given us is powerful enough to break the chains the enemy tries to keep us in and our prayers for one another increases our faith, but also moves God who graciously answers our prayers.

Sisters and brothers, maybe you are struggling with something today. Ask yourself, are you relying on yourself or God? __________

If God can raise the dead, he can certainly take care of us and our situations. Will you follow Paul’s example and stop relying on yourself and learn to rely only on God, who raises the dead?

  • Place your confidence in God.
  • Rely on God.
  • God will rescue you.
  • God will continue to rescue us.

Father God, thank you for rescuing us from destruction. Lord God, you are greater in all the earth, yet you sent your Son Jesus Christ to rescue us. Lord God, we are thankful for the blood of the Lamb that redeemed us and set us free. Lord, there is no one who knows our life story like you do. Lord, use our stories for your glory. Lord, hear our prayers for ourselves and Christians around the world. Lord, touch the confused and clean their minds from the lies of the enemy. Lord, teach the ones who believe in God about your son Jesus Christ so that they may believe and be saved. Lord, continue to work in us as we face trials to the point of being overwhelmed and don’t let us move our eyes off you. Lord, we ask all these things in Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
