Good morning! When I think about traveling out of state, my preferred method is by airplane. When I look out of the airport window to see the plane that I’m boarding I don’t get nervous because I can see the whole airplane. I only get nervous when the airline delays my flight because something is not working the way that it should on the airplane. In most cases, an engineer will make some adjustments to the plane or a part on the plane and then we are given the okay to fly to our destination. Sisters and brothers, the entire flight was delayed because of one part. We could’ve of flown to our destination, but it may have been catastrophic. Today, in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, we will be discussing the importance of every body part. Join me as we read verses 14-21.
“14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?
18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.””- 1 Corinthians 12:14-21 NLT
Sisters and brothers, we need one another. Each of us has a significant role to play in the body of Christ. As our spiritual gifts flourish we should use them to help each other. As our combined gifts grow and flourish, the body of Christ will as well.
Just as in the story of the airplane, each part is significant if it wasn’t the engineers would have scrapped the part in the design feature. God made each of us and designed each of us to be a significant part of the body. None of us are the same and each one of us have a significant part to play.
Satan would love for us to believe that we don’t need each other, but those are lies from the enemy – don’t believe him. Your spiritual gift has significance and is useful for building up the body.
- Are you ready to be used by God? ___________
- If you are already being used, are you growing in the word and into a deeper relationship with God so that other gifts are unlocked/released? ________
Pray for the Lord to take the lead.
Let God use you right where you are.
Father God, thank you for your love toward us. Lord, thank you for using us, and thank you making us enough. Lord, your faithfulness is undeserved, but you are faithful to us anyway. Lord, forgive us for the times when we tried to stray away from the body. Lord, continue to build us up in you and expand our spiritual gifts. Help us to focus on the things that matter to you. Continue to break our hearts for what breaks yours. Protect us from the schemes of the enemy. Cover and shield children as they go to school. Be with those who are going to work today and give them peace and favor on the job. Lord replenish us with your love and compassion so that we will reach those who are broken, lost and struggling physically or emotionally. Lord, heal the sick and those who are suffering from depression. Lord, touch their bodies in the way that only you can. Lord, comfort those who are preparing for surgery and give them peace. Lord, thank you for all that you do. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus.
Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
