Happy Friday! Another day and opportunity to be grateful for the gifts the Lord has given us. Today, in 1 Corinthians chapter, verses 4-6, Paul begins to share with us the origination of spiritual gifts. Join me today as we learn together. Have an incredible day and weekend.
“4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.” – 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 NLT
The reoccurring theme in these verses are:
- The same Spirit (Holy Spirit)
- The same Lord (Jesus Christ)
- The same God (God the Father)
Sisters and brothers, we are all members of the body, united in Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit. In everything we do we should recognize the source where they come from – the same God does all the work in us. We didn’t develop our spiritual gifts or service on our own. It is the inner workings of the Lord who lives within us.
As we prepare to go deeper into the reading of spiritual gifts next week, I want you to ponder on these things today and over the weekend.
- Do I want to be used by God? _________ if you aren’t ready, feel free to skip the next questions.
- Am I ready to be obedient to what God ask of me? ________ if, so get some quiet time with the Lord and write down some of the things He has gifted you to do.
- What has God gifted you with? ________
- How can you use those gifts in the church, community, etc., for the body of Christ? _______
Sisters and brothers, God wants to use you. You have the choice to be used by God or someone else, but you can only serve one. Trust God, allow him to use you and the gifts he has given you to build up the kingdom.
Father God, we thank you for today. Thank you for another opportunity for us to serve you and your people. Lord, on our own we are unworthy, but with you and because of you we can use the spiritual gifts you have given us to serve our local church, communities and our jobs to bring you glory. Lord, forgive us for the times when we ignored your call to use our spiritual gifts. Lord, forgive us for being selfish or complacent instead of living to serve you. Lord, we want to be attuned to how you want to use us. Lord, speak to us. Lord, reveal to us all that you desire for us. Lord, heal the hurts of people who have been misused or told they could not use their gifts. Lord, as you heal and speak to them, refine their passion for what you have called them to do. Lord, breathe life into those dry bones and empty thoughts. Equip them and prepare them for the places that they will be used. Lord, show us how to use our gifts to reach the least, lost and last. Use us, Lord. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
This is just a quick reminder…for those who expressed interest in participating in tomorrow’s Refresh, Restore, Renewed event a formal email with the event details will be sent out later today. I look forward to spending time with you.
Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
