Happy Friday! Have you ever had one of those weeks when you simply did not know how you were going to make it through? Maybe the week began with great hope and expectation, but by Wednesday you felt deflated. Well, read these verses from the Psalmist and see how he stood firm.
“113 I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your instructions.
114 You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.
115 Get out of my life, you evil-minded people,
for I intend to obey the commands of my God.
116 Lord, sustain me as you promised, that I may live! Do not let my hope be crushed.
117 Sustain me, and I will be rescued; then I will meditate continually on your decrees.
118 But you have rejected all who stray from your decrees. They are only fooling themselves.
119 You skim off the wicked of the earth like scum; no wonder I love to obey your laws!
120 I tremble in fear of you; I stand in awe of your regulations.” Psalm 119:113-120 NLT
Brothers and sisters, let us not forget to meditate on his word – the word that sustains us, gives us wise counsel and hope. When things don’t appear to be going as planned, drag your feet back and stand firm on the promises of God’s word – God is working out the details. Allow the Lord to be your:
- Refuge
- Shield
- Source of hope
- Sustainer (the One who holds up and maintains)
- Promise keeper
- Rescuer
This weekend will you allow the Lord to be all of those and more?
Father God, thank you for your help. You are the creator of all things and you know every detail about us. Lord, you promised to be our rock, shield, refuge and hope. You promised to never leave us or forsake us. Lord, as we seek you today, we know there are many in need (e.g., financially, mentally, physically and spiritually), and we ask that you give them peace as you begin to heal, restore, provide and protect. Lord, pour your Holy Spirit out and bring comfort to those who are struggling, suffering and grieving. Lord, shower them with your love and compassion. Help them to see you in the midst of the chaos around them. Lord, we pray for those who have not heard the gospel message and for those who have rejected it. Lord, for those who have not heard, continue to send your people/missionaries to spread the good news throughout the ends of the earth. Lord, for those who have rejected your word – Lord, I know there are parents, friends and family praying for their loved ones to return back to you or give their lives to you. Lord, soften the hearts of those individuals so that they will be receptive to your word and hear from you. Lord, as you work in their lives continue to work in our hearts and change us to be more like you. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
