Good morning! King David the Psalmist is open with God about what he will do as a faithful servant of God, a father and as king to a nation. As you read the list of David’s “I will” statements ponder on them for a moment.
“1 I will sing of your love and justice,Lord. I will praise you with songs. 2 I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. 3 I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them. 4 I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil. 5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.
6 I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me.
7 I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.
8 My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the Lord from their grip.” Psalm 101:1-8 NLT
If you are living for God there are days when you will need to exam yourself and exam who is in your daily circle. Let’s start with:
1. What are some of the things you noticed in these verses? ______
2. What are some of the things you need to be careful of, refuse, reject and/or not tolerate? _______
3. What type of people do you need to start releasing from your influence so that you can pursue your God-given purpose? _____
As you seek God’s counsel for the things above, may the Lord give you wisdom and discernment to follow his guidance with your whole heart.
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for giving us another opportunity to self-exam and be stretched by your word. Lord, speak to our hearts today and reveal to us areas within us and around us that need to change. Expose the things and people we need to release from our lives that hinder us from abiding in your will. Lord, you know everything. You know our struggles with relationships, friendships, family “obligations”, but Lord we want and need to make you and the things of you our first obligation. So Lord, help us not to feel trapped, help us to establish healthy spiritual boundaries in all of our relationships. Help us to have a home the serves you and lives by your truth. Lord, help us to be courageous and bold, while humble so that others will see you active and alive in our lives. Lord, we pray for every marriage, every single person, every young adult, child and elder and ask that you pour out your spirit in their homes and fill it with your love and compassion. Lord, heal marriages, cure loneliness, remove bitterness and abuse. Keep changing us, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
