Good morning! We are going to take a slight detour from the book of Psalm to Luke as we grow closer to Resurrection day (Easter).
“31 Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, “Listen, we’re going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true.32 He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon. 33 They will flog him with a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again.” “34 But they didn’t understand any of this. The significance of his words was hidden from them, and they failed to grasp what he was talking about.” Luke 18:31-34 NLT
While the disciples were familiar with the words of the prophets (read Isaiah 53), at this time they were unable to connect the foretold story.
Today we understand the importance of these scriptures being fulfilled, “21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT
Father God, thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to be the offering for our sins. Lord, because of our rebellion, you could have left us to die without forgiveness. However, because of your love for us and your guaranteed promises we have been given an opportunity to be reconciled to you. Lord, help us to see and understand the significance of what you have done for us. Lord, help us to be bold as we share the story of Resurrection day – the greatest love story to others. In Jesus name, amen.
