Because We Can Still Dream

Happy Monday! Most states within North America, observe today as a day to celebrate the birthday, the work and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., pastor, advocate and civil rights leader in this country and around the world. If given the opportunity to listen to his most notable speech – I have a Dream, listen for at least four (4) biblical references: Amos 5:24, Isaiah 40:4-5, Psalm 30:5, and Galatians 3:28.

Today, we conclude 1 John 5. “And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal lifeDear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.”  1 John 5:20-21 NLT

This chapter immediately reminds me of John chapter 8, verse 31 and 32 “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

As believers we are children God. We have been told the truth, believe the truth and now we can walk in that truth free from sin and bondage to things that hinder our relationship with the only true God. Stand victorious in your faith! Continue to pray and share the word of God with others. Go in the strength of the Lord and make an impact on lives around you. Keep God first.

Father God, thank you for planting the seeds of faith, hope and a God sized dream in the heart of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Pastor. Lord, for ages you have given your children dreams and visions. Lord, we ask that you work through your children (us) to continue to share your word/truth with a nation and world of non-believers. Lord, as you give visions and dreams, give strength, hope, wisdom and counsel to those who will step out in faith and follow you with their whole heart. Lord, we pray for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s family and other family members who have lost family members because they were martyred for their faith/belief in you. Lord, strengthen them today and help them to continue to walk in faith. Lord, help us to be bold in our faith and trust you will lead, guide and carry us to places where we can share our testimony of faith, strengthen our brothers and sisters in the faith and lead generations to know you and accept you as Lord of their lives. Lord, help us to be obedient to your word, trust your timing, remain humble as we follow your lead and be bold for you. In Jesus name, Amen!

Keep God first! Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
