Happy Friday! I hope all is well. We are continuing in Matthew 25. We left off in the middle of a parable that Jesus shared with his disciples. Enjoy today’s reading and your weekend.
BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 25:7-13 NLT
“7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ 9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ 12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’
13 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.”
REFLECTION
Brothers and sisters, while the Lord is compassionate and merciful, He is a just God who knows the heart and thoughts of his people. Today, He is giving us another opportunity to be or get prepared, however when He returns or on the day that He calls us home, it will be too late. Don’t wait until it is too late, get to know Him now. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Be ready and keep watch.
PRAYER
Lord, we want to be ready on the day you return. Lord, strengthen us in your word, pierce our hearts with understanding and equip us to be courageous followers of you. Lord, we want to be different from the time we first began walking with you. We don’t want to be complacent or lazy about following you. Lord, we want our relationship with you to flourish and as a result, for us to bear good fruit throughout the land. Lord, guide us and teach us what is means to be prepared and to follow you. Lord, you are our rock and shield, protect us from the enemy’s plots/attacks against us today. Lord, lead us and keep our lamps lit until the day you return.
Lord, we lift up each reader’s prayer request and we ask for your favor. In Jesus name, amen.
