Through and By Faith

Good morning! This week we will begin our review of Hebrews chapter eleven, which I often refer to it as the faith chapter. May the Lord bless are reading and help us to apply it this week.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 1:1-3 NLT

“1 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. 2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”

Reflection

As we continue to read throughout scripture we are introduced to men and women with great and little faith. We have also seen God’s faithfulness from the beginning of time. His ability to be trusted is the reason we can continue in hope.

Faith in humankind may disappoint us. Believing someone at their word may disappoint us. However, the truth of God’s word and his promises do not disappoint. While things may not occur in our time, the God we serve is God all by himself and he knows how to take care of us. We can trust the One who formed the entire world to continue to transform us into faithful followers of Christ.

What are you believing God for today?

Prayer

Father God, thank you for being faithful. Thank you for your promises and for proving over and over again that you can be trusted. Lord, as we put our faith in you, develop our thoughts, help us to recognize your voice and direct our feet to follow your path for our lives. As we go through Hebrews chapter 11, equip us with the knowledge and the will to walk by faith each day of our lives. Help us to see you at work in this chapter and in our lives. Continue to strengthen our faith and hope in you. Lord, may our lives honor you as we live by faith. Lord, comfort our sister in Christ she grieves the loss of her brother. Lord, comfort their family and help them through this difficult time. Lord, heal those who are sick with COVID. Lord, heal their lungs and remove their cough. Lord, be with all the students preparing for finals, exams, papers, presentations, etc. Help them to meet their deadlines and successfully pass their exams. Lord, be with us this week. Keep us safe as we travel to and from our homes. Help us to navigate through the upcoming holidays in peace and in a healthy way. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
