Never Again

Good morning! Thank you for joining me as we continue to reflect on the goodness of God and the provision He made for us. Have a wonderful day.

Bible Verse 10:11-18 NLT

“11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,

16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day,[c] says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”[d]

17 Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”[e] 18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.”

Some Key Points

  • “our High Priest (Jesus – God’s one and only son) offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time.”
  • “by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.”
  • “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”
  • “And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.”

Sisters and brothers, people will try to bring up your sins and your past long after they have been forgiven. Let them, but you must remember – if you have confessed your sins to God, repented and turned away from your sins – your sins have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus. There may be some repair work that we may need to do to regain the trust of others, but don’t let Satan or his enemies or other people hold you in bondage to your past. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus and He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for sending your Son Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice for sin. God thank you for the new covenant and the perfect covering and removal of our blood stained sins. Thank you for purifying us and for making us white as snow. Lord, thank you for the words in Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”

Lord, prepare our hearts and minds for today. Give us the wisdom and discernment to align our thoughts and actions with yours. Remind us of your promises and remain in hope of the good things you have in store for us. Attune our hearts and ears to receive what you have for us. Counsel us in our speech, our behavior, our character, and in our relationships with others. Yield a good harvest from the work you allow us to do in this world on your behalf. Lord, don’t let us be a hinderance to believers or non-believers – Let them see you in us. Lord, don’t let us become self-absorbed. Lord, rescue us from the hands of our enemies and restore those things we have lost or do greater things. Lord, we surrender this day and our lives to you. Put a hedge of protection upon all the children in this world and keep them safe from harm and neglect. Protect them from adults, strangers, peers, and friends who desire or plan to harm them. Lord, disrupt the plans of the enemy right now in the name of Jesus. Lord, be with our nation as we prepare for Election Day. Lord, you have heard the prayers and the tears of your children – appoint the person you want in office. Disrupt chaos and confusion, and disrupt any plot that undermines the process. Lord, thank you for all that you do. We trust you, we are grateful, and we love you. In Jesus name we pray, amen!

Amen.
