Good morning! Today we will continue our reading in Hebrews chapter nine. Join me as we continue to learn why the 1st covenant had to be replaced.
Bible Verse – Hebrews 9:6-10 NLT
“6 When these things were all in place, the priests regularly entered the first room[c] as they performed their religious duties. 7 But only the high priest ever entered the Most Holy Place, and only once a year. And he always offered blood for his own sins and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. 8 By these regulations the Holy Spirit revealed that the entrance to the Most Holy Place was not freely open as long as the Tabernacle[d] and the system it represented were still in use.
9 This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them. 10 For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established.”
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for waking us up this morning. We thank you for your patience with us and for making a way for the second covenant. Thank you for sending Jesus to cleanse us from our sins once and for all. We thank you that we do not need to wait an entire year to be forgiven or submit a sacrifice, because of Jesus – the perfect sacrifice, our sins are forgiven whenever we repent and ask for it. Lord, today we ask for forgiveness of our sins ( the ones we know about and those committed in ignorance). Lord, help us to live in a manner that pleases you. Lord, help us to turn a way from things the try to keep us bound in sin. Lord, develop our character in those areas to be more like Christ.
Lord, thank you for correcting our course/path and our hearts whenever we were off track. Lord, you knew what was best for us and you insured the devil’s plan to take our lives, our minds, and hearts did not/will not prevail – thank you, Jesus.
Lord, be with us as we begin this new week. Lord, give us the discernment we need to live and operate in kingdom excellence. Lord, touch our tongues – purify them, and direct our steps and our time – give us favor in all things we encounter this week as we seek to follow you and your plan for our lives. Continue to heal those in need of healing. Comfort those who are grieving and missing their loved ones. Strengthen marriages. Guide those who are single and provide for the widows and orphans. Protect the children who are coming and going from school – keep them safe from harm. In Jesus name we pray all these things and we lift up each prayer of every reader in Your name, amen.
