He Lives Forever

Good morning! Praise God for another day. I am so grateful that His Son Jesus lives forever. Enjoy today’s reading as we conclude Hebrews chapter seven.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 7:23-29 NLT

“23 There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. 24 But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. 25 Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save[e] those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

26 He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.[f] 27 Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins. 28 The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever.”

Reflection

I heard a pastor say, “Where would you be if you were given what you deserve?” As I pondered over that question, I looked over my life and began to think about the things I deserve. Then I stood in awe of the greatestness of our perfect savior who died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice – once and for all for our sins.

God’s word says in Micah 7:19, “Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!”

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for your everlasting and unconditional love. Thank you for sending your Son Jesus for us. Lord, although our sins are like scarlet, we are so grateful that you cleansed us and made us new. Thank you for forgiveness of sins.

Thank you for blessing and guiding us throughout the day and for allowing us to live with a perfect hope that never changes. Lord, your ways are better than ours and your understanding is beyond our earthly comprehension. Lord, that is why we trust you. You know our past, current, and our future. Lord, help us to see your plan for our lives clearly. Lord, we want to honor you with our hearts, hands, and work. Give us wisdom to press forward – after the things that matter to you.

Lord, help to home those without a home. Lord, comfort those in need of comforting, compassion and care. Lord, give favor to those who need you to step in the gaps and/or for you to lead in a mighty way today – giving favor to those who need your favor and guidance in their situations. Lord, give us an obedient heart to hear, listen, and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. Lord, we surrender our lives to you. In Jesus name, amen.
