He Blesses Us

Good morning! May the Lord bless our reading in Hebrews chapter 7 as we continue with the story of Abraham and Melchizedek the priest.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 7:4-7 NLT

“4 Consider then how great this Melchizedek was. Even Abraham, the great patriarch of Israel, recognized this by giving him a tenth of what he had taken in battle. 5 Now the law of Moses required that the priests, who are descendants of Levi, must collect a tithe from the rest of the people of Israel,[a] who are also descendants of Abraham. 6 But Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham. And Melchizedek placed a blessing upon Abraham, the one who had already received the promises of God. 7 And without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed.” Hebrews 7:4-7 NLT.

Reflection

Again, Melchizedek was a servant of God. He was not appointed by the typical Levitical priestly family line, but he was anointed by God. Abraham recognized Melchizedek was anointed by God and honored his position as priest.

God has gifted many to spread His word. It’s not limited to a pastor/priest it is available to those who have surrendered their lives to God and who have had their lives transformed by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

If you truly believed and accepted Christ as your Savior, then the Holy Spirit is upon you. Ask the Lord to bring it out of dormancy and to give you the power and strength to do what God has purposed you to do and designed you to be. Don’t let anyone limit what God has for you.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for blessing us. We thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit that guides us. Lord we ask that you ignite a passion in our hearts and souls to live a life of purpose. A life that intentionally seeks you in all the things we do. Lord we ask for your anointing to fall on us. Cover us from our head to our toes filling us with your Holy Spirit. Ignite our passion and love for you and your people. Help us not to walk in fear and help us to trust you in the calling/purpose you have given us. May our obedience glorify you.

Lord, we pray for those who have exams today and this week. We ask for you to open their minds and recall to memory everything they need to know for their exam. Lord, remove anxiety and fear from their thoughts and bless them with a passing grade and high score. Lord, we pray for peace in the heart of each reader today and ask that you comfort them. Heal those who are sick and comfort those who are recovering – clear up lingering coughs and aches.

In Jesus name, Amen!
