He Had A Significant Role

Good morning! Today, we will begin our reading in Hebrews chapter 7.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 7:1-3 NLT

“1 This Melchizedek was king of the city of Salem and also a priest of God Most High. When Abraham was returning home after winning a great battle against the kings, Melchizedek met him and blessed him. 2 Then Abraham took a tenth of all he had captured in battle and gave it to Melchizedek. The name Melchizedek means “king of justice,” and king of Salem means “king of peace.” 3 There is no record of his father or mother or any of his ancestors—no beginning or end to his life. He remains a priest forever, resembling the Son of God.”

Reflection

This introduction of Melchizedek teaches us about a priest who was highly honored among the people. While he was a priest of God Most High we will learn in Chapter 7, he resembled the Son of God – Jesus Christ, however he was not equal to or greater than.

Sisters and brothers, you have a significant role too. God has good plans for you. Keep trusting Him and walking in obedience to His word – He sees you and He is with you.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for the love and care you give us. Your love extends beyond our understanding and you offer us hope that never expires. Father as we seek to serve you, help us to remember to resemble your love and peace. Strengthen us Lord and help us to be all that you have called us to be. Help us to stand with our brothers and sisters in the faith who are struggling with the things of this world. Help us to see you for who and how great you are. Help us to praise you for all the great things you have done and continue to do. While things may press us on both sides, Lord when we are pressed may evidence of you in our life pour out so others will see you in us. Cover us with your protection, give us wisdom to understand your word and an obedient heart to follow you. Thank you for forgiving our past and putting us on the right path. Lord, we desire to serve you with our whole heart and live a life that is pleasing to you. Lord, equip us with the wisdom, knowledge, and peace we need to be effective in everything we do. Lord, revive those who are feeling discouraged or frustrated and help them to give you their concerns and put their trust in you for a good outcome. Lord, renew our thoughts and remind us throughout the day of who we are in Christ Jesus. Lord, thank you for choosing us, for knowing every detail about us and still loving us. Lord, continue to send your army of angels to protect us throughout the day. Lord, may our lives be a pleasing resemble you. In Jesus name, amen.
