Good morning! This morning we will continue our reading in Hebrews chapter six. May God bless your day and reading.
Bible Verses – Hebrews 6:13-15 NLT
“13 For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name, saying:
14 “I will certainly bless you, and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.”[c]
15 Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.”
Reflection
Abraham waited patiently, however there was a lot that he endured. To name a few:
Trusting God when he said, “The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.” Genesis 12:1 NLT
There were decades between the promise until Abraham’s wife Sarah conceived a child. “I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!” Genesis 17:6 NLT
He was fearful of being killed so he had his wife say she was his sister, “Abraham introduced his wife, Sarah, by saying, “She is my sister.” So King Abimelech of Gerar sent for Sarah and had her brought to him at his palace.” Genesis 20:2 NLT
Abraham experienced many difficulties, some self-inflicted and others were part of the course that also matured his faith.
In spite of Abraham’s trials God never forgot him or the promise He made to Abraham. Just like He will never forget His promises to us. So if you have been eagerly waiting, become prayerfully patient and wait on the Lord to reveal to you the next step.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the example of Abraham. Lord, Abraham struggled with distrust and trust in his relationship with you and still you kept your promise. Father in our personal struggle to trust you and to discern your voice from many others, we ask that you make your voice clear to us as we turn to you and stand on your promises. Strengthen our faith, equip us in the areas where we are weak and help us to walk away from things that are holding us back from you. Grow us Lord! Help us to reach new heights in ministry and sharing your word with others. Lord, we pray for each person reading this message today and we ask for you to cover us and protect us from the devil and his schemes against us. Dress us in the full armor of God this week so that we can walk with every piece of protection that you provide for us. Protect children as they leave home, go to school, and return home. Lord, watch over our loved ones as they go throughout the day – keep them safe from harm and aligned with your plan and purpose that you have for their lives. Heal our sisters and brothers in the faith from trauma that they still struggle with. Heal bodies and remove aches and pains. Lord, comfort those suffering from chronic pain and give peace to those who are grieving. Help us to trust you more in all areas of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
