God Heard Him

Good morning! Do you ever think about the prayers you pray and wonder when and/or how they will be answered? Today in Hebrews chapter 5 verse 7, we read about the type of prayers Jesus prayed too. While Jesus’ greatest prayer (in my earthly opinion) wasn’t answered God did something different.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 5:7-10 NLT

“7 While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. 8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. 9 In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. 10 And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.”

Reflection

Jesus’ prayers and pleads to by pass the horrible death on the cross were heard by God, but God had a greater plan. Jesus learned obedience in his suffering, but His course of life on this earth led to our salvation.

Sisters and brothers, we won’t always have the answer to prayer that we want. It doesn’t mean God is not listening, in fact, He is. Yet, we need to trust God’s greater plan for our lives. He won’t get His response wrong. His plan and our obedience is key. Keep praying and trusting – God will be your strength – this, sisters and brothers is where the stretch and growth begins.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for demonstrating strength in your suffering. It is in your revealed word that we understand the pain you endured on our behalf. Lord, continue to help us to be obedient to your word. Allow us to see you in the midst of our suffering. Give us courage to move forward in your strength. And Lord, although we cannot erase our past, we trust you with today, with our future and our eternal life. Your ways are better than ours, keep shaping and molding us to a complete work of art. While we ask for protection and covering – have your way in our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
