He Is Patient

Good morning! Today we are going to pick up in Hebrews chapter three.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 3:7-11 NLT

That is why the Holy Spirit says, “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. 10 So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ 11 So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”

Reflection

Can you imagine telling someone for forty years to do what you said? Even today, if we repeat ourselves more than twice we get a little irritated. However, that shows the difference in our patience verses the patience God has for His children, even the ones who rebelled, until finally he took an oath and stated, “they will never enter my place of rest.”

Sisters and brothers, today and every day ahead do not harden your hearts when you hear the voice of the God. While God has been patient with us, He also sent His Son Jesus to save us and reconcile us back to Him. Our lives in eternity in heaven matters to God. Soften your heart, listen to His voice, and follow in obedience. He loves us and cares for us.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for today. We thank you for being patient with us. We thank you for never turning away from us and for never giving us what we deserve. Thank you for giving us grace for giving us mercy and an opportunity to be reconciled back to you. Thank you for sending your son Jesus. Thank you for the miracles that remind us that you are still God.

Lord, there are moments that we struggle with listening and being obedient to your word. Lord, we don’t want to live that way. Lord, we surrender our lives, our thoughts, our household, and everything else to you. Lord, help us to make the right choices with the things you have given us. Give us discernment in every choice we make. Give us wisdom to see things as you see them. Give us courage and the fortitude to stand by your word and to proceed in the way you would have us to go or to do what you have called us to do. Lord, you are faithful in every aspect of our lives. Continue to guide us as we work to be and remain faithful to you. Lord, we again thank and praise you for your patience with us. Help us to be good stewards of what you have given us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
