Good morning! We are continuing our reading in the second chapter of Hebrews. Enjoy today’s devotion and your weekend.
Bible Verse – Hebrews 2:11-15 NLT
“11 So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. 12 For he said to God, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”
13 He also said, I will put my trust in him,” that is, “I and the children God has given me.” 14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.”
Reflection
Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the dead made a way for us to be reconciled to God. By accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are proclaiming God as our Father. As brothers and sisters we should demonstrate the trust in God that Jesus displayed/taught so that others will learn to trust him. Also, by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord of our lives we have been given the gift of eternal life. Our death on earth will occur, but our life after – eternal with in heaven is forever. We have been set free and we have been given a greater hope. This promise lets us know that one day we will see all of our loved ones who have passed, if they believed and received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Final take away was verse 13 “13 He also said, I will put my trust in him,” that is, “I and the children God has given me.”
Sisters and brothers, let your faith speak volumes – put your trust in God. Then when you go through trials and stand firm on the word of God, people will see your faith/trust in God. Believe me people are watching, but don’t worry brothers and sisters stay focused on God, He will see you through this trial and the next.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us and reconcile us back to you. Lord, we pray for those who have not made a decision to surrender their lives and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Lord, keep working in their hearts and help them to see you at work in their lives every day. Lord, we pray for those who are missing loved ones who have gone ahead of us to be with you. Lord, comfort our hearts and continue to give us peace of mind as we are reminded that we will see them again. Lord, as we wait for the day that you will call us to our eternal home, help us to live in the present – sharing the message of Jesus with others and living a life that pleases you. Lord, help us to find joy even on the difficult days. Continue to cover us with your safety and protection. Bless our lives, heal our bodies and minds, help to always walk in faith as we look to you our helper, savior, redeemer, peace, haymaker, restorer, healer, physician, and our everything we need. In Jesus name, amen!
