Prayer – August 7, 2024

May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6 NLT

Prayer

Father God,  thank you for being with us during the night. Thank you for your protection and faithfulness.

Lord, this morning, as we seek to draw near to you, we ask that you prepare our hearts and minds for this day. Lord, only you know the outcome of this day, so we will put our hope, trust, and faith in you as you lead us. Lord, help us to be united in our faith, praying to you on behalf of ourselves and others. Lord, help us to slow down just enough to give you glory and praise for the things you have done and will do. Lord, give us patience as needed and give us encouragement, as well as reassurance, as we  engage with people and situations today. Lord, may we be so connected to you that we do not feel offense, but instead, we stand in your strength, knowing the battle is already won. Lord, may we remain in godly contentment and focus on the greater things you have in store for us. Help us to help others in physical, emotional, and spiritual need. Lord, prepare our hearts and minds to be ministers of grace despite our own needs and also allow our need to be ministered to be sufficiently met.

Lord, we pray for another sister in Christ who is having surgery today. Lord, we pray that you calm her heart and emotions today. Lord, we ask that you give her peace. Lord, be with the physicians and medical staff that will attend to her. Lord, touch their hands and give them the wisdom and discernment that they need to prepare for the surgery, perform the procedure, and care for her appropriately after the procedure. Lord, let Your light shine in the operating room, and may they all experience your mighty presence and peace.

Lord, we continue to pray for those who are in the hospital or at home who are ill and need healing or are recovering from surgery or a procedure. Lord, we ask that Your healing hand be upon them. Lord, give them renewed strength and power that only you can provide. Heal the infections, release pain, heal nerve connections, heal broken bones, other ligaments, and cognitive disorders.

Lord, heal our churches, ministries, families, and any area readers may be praying about. Lord, comfort those who are grieving this week for the mother-in-law they lost on Friday, for the brother they lost yesterday, and for others who experienced a loss this week. Lord, there has been a lot of death, and Lord, while we know Your word and what it promises, hearts are still aching. So, Lord, we ask that you comfort their brokenhearts.

Lord, keep working in us and strengthen us to serve you each day of our lives with tears, joy, and even in weary. Lord, may our work be pleasing to you. May we never forget that you don’t need us, but you have chosen us to be your hands and feet in this world. Help us to walk humbly in courage and peace. In Jesus’ name,  amen.
