A Humble Attitude

Good morning! It’s a wonderful day to read a reminder from scripture and pray. May the Lord bless your reading and application today.

Bible Verse – 1 Peter 3:8-12 NLT

Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters.[a] Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. 10 For the Scriptures say,

“If you want to enjoy life
    and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
11 Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
12 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil.”[b]

PRAYER

Dear God. We thank you for always being God. From the beginning until the end you are God. From the past, to the current and into the future you are God. From A to Z in our lives, you are still God and there is nothing greater than you. Not one problem, not one financial situation, not a relationship, or peer is greater than you.

You are the One who saves, heals, and restores. You are the One who is able and provides. There is no one who can replace you or make us whole. Lord, we know that we will always lack when we are not in relationship with You. Lord, restore and renew our relationship with you every day. Lord, we want to be displays of your splendor. We want to eliminate self-centeredness in our lives and live our lives for You. Lord, remove pride from our hearts. Help us to hear you and listen. Help us to demonstrate love to others. Keep us from speaking evil against others, keep our minds from evil thoughts. Keep our tongues from destroying relationships in our families and other environments. Prevent our mouths from telling lies to ourselves and to others. Lord, stabilize our thinking and give us mental clarity to hear and act according to your word. Lord, let our lips praise you and sing songs of gratitude for what you have done for us.

Lord, continue to grow us in your word. Teach us and transform us as you write your scriptures on our hearts. Lord, we don’t want to operate on auto-pilot and be auto-pilot Christians. Keep leading us in the direction you would have us go and continue to search us as we draw nearer to You.

Lord, continue to hear the prayers of those who sent in prayer requests, and those that were not sent. Lord, you know every need. Lord, we ask for continued healing for those going through cancer treatment. Lord, we pray for those who have been diagnosed with a terminal diagnosis and we ask for you to work in the hearts of those who have received those words. Lord, we know and believe you are a healer, and we know you are sovereign. Lord, we ask for them to be healed on this side of the earth, but Lord we trust Your will in all of this. Lord, may Your love be seen even when we don’t understand your greater plan.

Lord, we pray for those impacted by the wars and earthquakes. Lord, we pray for those who are mourning the loss of loved ones and loss in general. Lord, we pray for the innocent bystanders in these conflicts. Lord, we ask that you change hearts and bring an end to the war and fighting. Lord, change the hearts of the leaders.

Lord, we pray for your peace to overflow in our lives. We pray for your wisdom and discernment to lead our thoughts and actions. Lord, keep us focused and disciplined in the things you have called us to. Lord, we ask for physical healing, financial stability, homes for the unhoused, food for the food insecure, and emotional well-being. Lord, help those starting businesses and those in school to finish well. Protect them. Lord, continue to cover the children in this world and keep them safe from harm. In Jesus name, amen.
