Good morning! Today we are continuing with Paul’s message to the Ephesian leaders. It’s a faithful reminder to those who are leaders in the church, but also to everyone else. Join me as we continue in Acts chapter 20.
Bible Verse – Acts 20:25-31 NLT
“25 “And now I know that none of you to whom I have preached the Kingdom will ever see me again. 26 I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, 27 for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.
28 “So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders. 29 I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. 30 Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following. 31 Watch out! Remember the three years I was with you—my constant watch and care over you night and day, and my many tears for you.”
Reflection
Paul continued to teach the Ephesian leaders and prepare them to lead the church without him. His guidance for leaders then is the same for leaders today, “guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church.” However, this guidance is good for anyone.
Sisters and brothers, the enemy and his followers are always seeking an opportunity to distract or rob us from experiencing a deeper relationship with Christ Jesus. Let us remember to guard ourselves and others with the truth of the word and discernment from the Holy Spirit. Don’t lose faith and don’t lose focus, the presence of the Lord is with you and the church. Keep praying for the church, keep praying for the flock, keep praying for unity in Christ Jesus. May we all aspire to love like Christ, share the Good News, and be obedient to God the Father until the day He calls us home.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for your love and faithfulness toward us. Teach us and develop us to love and care for others as you do. Lord bless and keep us, strengthen us in our walk, and mature us in faith. Lord, we are grateful for all that you do for us. We pray for churches around the world and ask that your Holy Spirit take over. Lord, we need you and your peace. Work within us so that we may be an example of the church. Lord, remove any spirits of anger and dissension from us. Lord heal us from the inside out – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We pray for those who are meeting in a church building and those who watch on-line. Lord continue to spread your word and equip everyone where they are to live out your word in the world. In Jesus name amen.
