He Wasn’t Alone

Good morning! Have you ever felt alone? In your lonely spaces do you reach out to God in prayer? Today, we will continue our reading in Acts chapter 18, we will see how the Lord sent people into Paul’s life.

Bible Verse – Acts 18:18-23 NLT

18 Paul stayed in Corinth for some time after that, then said good-bye to the brothers and sisters and went to nearby Cenchrea. There he shaved his head according to Jewish custom, marking the end of a vow. Then he set sail for Syria, taking Priscilla and Aquila with him.

19 They stopped first at the port of Ephesus, where Paul left the others behind. While he was there, he went to the synagogue to reason with the Jews. 20 They asked him to stay longer, but he declined. 21 As he left, however, he said, “I will come back later, God willing.” Then he set sail from Ephesus. 22 The next stop was at the port of Caesarea. From there he went up and visited the church at Jerusalem and then went back to Antioch.

23 After spending some time in Antioch, Paul went back through Galatia and Phrygia, visiting and strengthening all the believers.

Reflection

Paul arrived in Corinth alone. He had no friends, no other believers were with him. In a short period of time, God blessed him with friends, partners in ministry, and a host of believers. Paul did not leave Corinth without leaving a number of believers with the Good News and guidance on living for Christ.

Paul’s journeys mentioned in today’s verses are reminders of who the book of Corinthians (Corinth), Ephesians (Ephesus), and Galatians (Galatia) were written too. We are blessed by the letters/Bible books, but also by Paul’s faithfulness to the Lord.

Questions to ponder

  • God wants to use you, are you willing to go and do what He has called you to do or go?
  • Will you find a quiet space and sit for some time and let the Lord speak to you?
  • Will you allow the Lord to be the center of your life?
  • What is holding you back from doing what the Lord is directing you to do?

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for the love that you continue to give and show us. Lord, we thank you for your willingness to send your son Jesus to save us. Lord, continue to work in us and transform us to be who you called us to be. Strip us of ourselves so that we can make more room for You. Lord, keep speaking to us and working in us. Protect us. Mature us in your word and in faith. Lord, whatever we are fearful of bind it in the name of Jesus. Lord, remove self-doubt and remind us of your power working within us. In Jesus name, amen.
