Rely on the Grace of God

Good morning! The Lord is always on time. Paul and Barnabas were given a divine opportunity to speak a word of encouragement in the synagogue. The word of encouragement was the Good News. It wasn’t by mistake or coincidence that Paul and Barnabas had been given the opportunity, it was the leading of the Holy Spirit that brought them there and opened the opportunity. Today’s verses will conclude Paul’s message to the people in the synagogue.

Bible Verse – Acts 13:38-42 NLT

38 Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. 39 Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do. 40 Be careful! Don’t let the prophets’ words apply to you. For they said,

41 ‘Look, you mockers, be amazed and die!
For I am doing something in your own day,
something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.’[Habakkuk 1:5]”

42 As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week. 43 Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God.”

Key Point:

Sisters and brothers, there is forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Each one of us has an opportunity to repent of our sins, ask for forgiveness and be made right in God’s sight.

Reflection

The day Paul finished his message of encouragement, which was the Good News more people believed. The Holy Spirit called them and the results were clear – lives were changed.

Sisters and brothers, God has designed and purposed you for something great and unique to you. If you are not certain what God is calling you to do, keep praying about it, and trust the Holy Spirit’s leading. If you are certain about what the Lord is calling you to do, start doing it step-by-step or continue to do it.

Take aways:

  • Trust the Lord to use you in spite of your past.
  • Surrender your heart and plans to the Lord and align them to His.
  • Remain encouraged. There will be naysayers but trust the One who spoke the world into existence.
  • God has a plan for you and those you will impact. “Continue to rely on the grace of God.”

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for your amazing grace. We thank you for letting us see You in these scriptures. Lord, we repent of our sins and ask that you forgive us of the sins we have committed (known and unknown). Lord, we desire to follow you with our whole heart. Lord, remove distractions and other barriers that keep us from being obedient to what you have called us to do. Lord, touch our lives and equip us for the day ahead. Continue to heal the brokenhearted. Comfort those who are. grieving. Protect the children returning from spring break and those beginning spring break. Lord, be with those waiting for surgery, are in surgery, and recovering – give the doctors wisdom, discernment, and compassion. Lord, we believe in you. Lord, take the lead. In Jesus name, amen.
