Good morning! Have you ever prayed for your circumstances to change? Maybe in school, you prayed a test would be canceled. Maybe you prayed for plans or people to change. Today, we will read how God disrupted plans. Join me as we continue in Acts chapter nine. Enjoy your day and this devotion.
Bible Verse – Acts 9:19-21 NLT
“19 Saul stayed with the believers in Damascus for a few days. 20 And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is indeed the Son of God!”
21 All who heard him were amazed. “Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked. “And didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them in chains to the leading priests?”
Reflection
Sisters and brothers, there is no doubt in my mind that the believers had been praying for the Lord to deliver them or protect them from Saul and others who were persecuting Christians. Praise God, their prayers were answered.
- The Lord disrupted the plans of the enemy.
- The Lord shifted the atmosphere and began using the very person who persecuted Christians/believers to be one of the greatest preachers of the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
We never know how God will answer prayers, but keep praying. We never know how or the day someone will surrender their lives to Christ, but keep praying for them anyway. We don’t know God’s grand plan, but we know He has already won – trust Him anyway.
Sisters and brothers, on that old Damascus road Saul met Jesus and he was never the same. Today, the Lord has you on a journey – He is with you, don’t remain the same. Let Him disrupt some plans. Allow the Lord to use you and transform you to fulfill His purpose and plan for you.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. Thank you for the mercy and grace that you have given us. Thank you for being patient with us. Lord, we know that there is so much work that needs to be done within us, but in your mercy keep working on us. Keep challenging us to be better, to do better, to love more, to seek you daily, to trust you, to walk by faith and to live a life that is pleasing to you. Lord, be with us on this road, comfort our hearts and our spirit. Lord, renew our minds and bring forth endless peace, wisdom, discernment and humility of heart. Lord, we trust you – our faith and hope is anchored in you alone. Great Defender – be our fortress, Great Physician – heal the sick, Great Provider – feed the hungry. Have compassion on us Lord – heal your people and your land. In Jesus name, amen.
