Happy Thursday! Yesterday, we focused on Ananias’ response to the Lord. I also asked for you to focus on your response to the Lord when He calls your name. Today, we will read Acts chapter nine verses 11-12, the Lord’s instructions to Ananias. Enjoy today’s devotion and your day.
Bible Verse – Acts 9:11-12 NLT
“11 The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. 12 I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.””
Key points:
- The Lord gave Ananias 3 things to do.
- Then the Lord told Ananias what he would eventually do.
- While Ananias was listening to the Lord, Saul was still waiting and praying.
Reflection
Sisters and brothers, the Lord gives us instructions and opportunities to be used by Him. We often respond yes, Lord – as we listen to what the Lord calls us to do. We may not hear instructions as clear as Ananias, but even in those moments we must pray for clarity so that we can act on what Lord is instructing us to do.
While Saul waited on Ananias to come and lay hands on him – to heal his sight, Saul remained in prayer. As I read this, it reminded me of all the times I’ve waited in prayer. At times, I’ve been encouraged by the song Wait On You, by Elevation Worship and Maverick City. If you get a chance here’s a link to the song. https://youtu.be/K3TYG7Q_fj4
Are you waiting in prayer?
Sisters and brothers I have two final things:
- Keep praying while you wait on the Lord.
- If the Lord is calling you to do something, do it. Someone is waiting on you to listen to the Lord’s instructions so that they can be healed, feed, comforted, etc.
Sisters and brothers, someone is waiting on you. This week listen carefully and follow the Lord’s instructions.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for all that you have done for us. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us. Lord, forgive us for the times when we did not follow your instructions or do your will. Lord, work in and through us to do the things that you have called us to. Lord, we are your instruments and we desire to be used to comfort, heal, pray for, provide food for, and encourage your people. Lord, while we wait on you for healing or instructions steady our minds and hearts on you. Calm our spirits and protect us from the lies of the enemy. Lord, don’t let us give into fear. Keep pressing us forward, while removing fear, doubt, shame, lies and betrayal from our hearts and minds. Lord, You are the One who calls – let us hear from you. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.
