Happy Thursday! Today is our last day reviewing 1 Peter chapter 5. My prayer is that in our review that the word of God revealed some mighty things and that you are encouraged to continue in the faith. Join me as we finish the final verses in 1 Peter chapter 5 (Peter’s Final Greeting). Have a blessed day.
BIBLE VERSE – 1 Peter 5:12-14 NLT
“12 I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.
13 Your sister church here in Babylon sends you greetings, and so does my son Mark. 14 Greet each other with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.“
REFLECTION
Sisters and brothers, Peter emphasized that even in the midst of suffering that Christians and the church must stand firm in the grace of God.
Remember what we learned in 1 Peter:
• As Christians we are God’s elect.
• We have been chosen and called by God.
• Our new birth/life is our living hope through the ressurection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
• Our eternal inheritance in heaven is secure in Christ.
• Our behavior or attitudes as Christians provides a witness, demonstrates our citizenship as children of God, how we are to conduct ourselves as servants/employees, our conduct as wives, husbands and people of faith.
• Through Christ we have the power to overcome injustices against us, and we can do it with compassion and a clear conscience.
• While we may not understand the trials we are going through, we must remain focused on Christ and his deliverance.
• While we endure let us have a Christ like attitude, service and faith.
• Stand firm in the faith.
We may suffer, but know that God will never leave us. His peace is with all of us who are in Christ Jesus. Continue to pray for His peace and presence to be with you today and always.
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for your grace and mercy on our lives. Lord, you have been so good to us. Lord, in the midst of chaos, trauma, unfair treatment, lies against us, threats of violence and betrayal you have remained consistent in our lives. Lord, you never waver or change. We can trust you more than any other form of psychological safety. Lord, thank you for seeing us as we are and not as the world sees us. Lord, thank you for holding us up when the world is constantly pushing us down or away. Lord, thank you for exposing evil and for giving us discernment toward individuals who are not out for our benefit, but for the benefit of themselves. Lord, guide us in the decisions we must make, things we need to change in our lives and our behaviors. Lord, we don’t want to be lukewarm Christians who ride the line of being a Christian one day and the next acting like the seed of the enemy. Lord, we don’t want to be puffed up in our own right. Lord, we want to follow you with our whole heart and we desire to be justified by you alone. Lord, keep working in us to be Christians who represent you well. Lord, help us not to seek favor of people, but to see your favor on our lives. Keep us steadfast as we live for you. Lord, we pray for those who have cancer, those who have been placed on hospice, and those who are waiting for results or surgeries. Lord, we ask for your Holy Spirit to pour out peace on them and their family. Lord, we pray for those with heart conditions and ask that you remove any pain that they are experiencing. Lord, give the doctors insight on how treat and care for them. Help them to expedite the necessary referrals. We pray for those in comas and ask for their complete healing. Lord, we know you are all powerful and that you will take care of your children. In Jesus name, amen.
