1 Heart & Mind

Good morning! When God is on the move, no one can stop him. The church continues to grow, the people continue to be feed the word, and everyone is on one accord. Join me as we continue to read Acts chapter 4 and see how God continued to move the believers.

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.

In spite of the instruction Peter and John received from the Sanhedrin not speak in the name – referring to the name of Jesus, the believers continued to pray and praise God. God was powerfully among them and the people continued the work of the ministry – caring for those in need.

Sisters and brothers, we may not be in the church building but we are the church – one in heart and mind. Let us continue to care for those in need. Teach us to love on those who are lonely or are lacking essentials.

How has God prompted you to help others during the pandemic? __________

How can we help you? __________

Father God we thank you for your love for us. Thank you for showing us how to love one another. You are the primary example of what love, compassion and care for others looks like. Thank you for showing us your thoughtful ways and for softening our hearts toward others. Lord during this COVID-19 pandemic you have used your church (the people- not the building) to continue to provide for those in need, pray for those who were ill, and comfort those who were fearful. Lord even nonbelievers were caring for others and helping those in need. Lord thank you for using us. Lord thank you for showing us that there are people on this earth who care. Lord as more places open and as churches begin to prepare for the difficult transition back to the building with new guidance in place, give those in authority the wisdom and discernment that they need to put the proper measurements in place. Lord may they open up the church under your timeline and your guidance. In the meantime, help them to continue to meet online via technology. Strengthen the pastors around the world and help them to boldly share the gospel message. Lord continue to heal those who are sick and infected by the virus. Lord heal and relieve pain for those who are suffering from chronic illness or pain. Comfort them and release the pain they are feeling. Lord go before us today and guide us in the way we should go. We trust your plan. In Jesus name, amen.

Registration for our next women’s retreat is open. In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 the retreat will be held online as a virtual retreat.
