Break Through

Good evening! There will be seasons in life when things will not go according to our plans. Life shifts in a matter of moments and we ask God – how did things turn so quickly? What could we have done to avoid this situation? Peter and John had found themselves in a situation where things were changing, but fortunately for them they had other believers who stood in faith with them. Join me as we continue our reading in Acts.

Acts 4: 23- 31 NLT: 23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:

“‘Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
against the Lord
    and against his anointed one.[b][c]

27 Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Sisters and brothers even under the threats of the Sanhedrin, Peter and John were not ready to give up on what God had called them to do.

Here are some key points to remember:

  • Peter and John shared their dilemma with people of faith – people they trusted.
  • The people of faith responded “they raised their voices together in prayer to God” (v. 24).
  • They prayed to God together.
  • They voiced to God that they knew how great He was. (v.24).
  • They remembered what God had did for His servant King David – recalled scripture and trusted God could and would protect them too.
  • They asked for specific prayers to be answered.

God’s response to their prayers – they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Sisters and brothers we are all going through some type of trial or coming out of one or are getting ready to go through one.

Before you/we give up, may we all follow the example of believers before us and pray together, for one another in faith believing God is a God of His word and He will bring us through whatever we are or may be facing. Trust Him, call to memory His faithfulness and present your prayers to Him.

Who can you call on to pray bold prayers with you? __________

If you don’t have anyone, we are here and are willing to pray bold prayers with you or on your behalf. Send your prayer request to: prayerrequest@maryewhiteministries.com

Father God thank you for all that you do for us. Thank you for your word that reminds us of how faithful you have been and for the faith to believe you can and will come through again. Lord when we feel like we are being persecuted remind us that you are faithful to deliver us. Lord when our voice seems to be cut-off remind us that even the rocks will cry out in praise. Remind us that you are with us, will never leave or forsake us and that victory belongs to you. Keep us in your perfect will and use us – stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, make us bold and equip us to boldly share your word with others. In the name of Jesus we pray.

Keep praying bold prayers!
