Good morning! One day I came across some seeds in a clear bag. The seeds were given as a take home gift from a women’s retreat. I’m certain the seeds had a label with instructions, but mine were no longer attached to the bag. The only way for me to find out what type of seeds they were was to plant them – so that is what I did. Today Paul gives the Corinthian church an analogy of seeds being planted in comparison with the ressurection of the body. Join me as we read 1 Corinthians 15:37-39.
“35 But someone may ask, “How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?” 36 What a foolish question! When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first. 37 And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting. 38 Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have. A different plant grows from each kind of seed. 39 Similarly there are different kinds of flesh—one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.” 1 Corinthians 15:36-39 NLT
Paul tries to breakdown the understanding for the Corinthian church. Just as we are certain that when we plant a dead seed new life will come from it, we can be certain that after death the ressurection of the dead brings new life. It will not be in the same form it was when it was planted in the ground (or scattered), it will be a new body (a spiritual body). While we may not know exactly what that will look like, we can trust the word that we will not be in our same earthly bodies.
Sisters and brothers, there will be a day when we will be with Christ. Until that day, stay focused on Him. Encourage one another with love and demonstrate compassion. Trust His plan for your life and do not walk in fear. The Lord made you unique, just as no seed is alike no human is alike. Bloom where you are planted, feed on the word of God and thirst for more of Him often.
Father God, thank you for making us unique and for giving us a purpose and a plan for our lives. Lord, equip and strengthen us with your word. Lord, lead us in the way we should go. Encourage us in your word and as you plant us let our roots grow deep so that we will be nourished by your living water. Lord, we are hopeless and lost without you. Be our strength and build us up in you. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying, the Lord hears you! Keep seeking! Keep trusting the process!
