Faith in the Promise

Good Morning! Today, we read in Hebrews chapter 11, verses 13-16 about a promise fulfilled. Join me as we revisit these verses.

All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:13-16 NLT.

Several years ago, I was looking for the perfect home. A home that would fit the needs of my family, one that would allow enough entertainment space for parties and intimate gatherings. From model home to new construction, I thought I would have everything I dreamed of in a home. Finally, the day came to secure the lot and obtain a move-in date when the builder said we are at least three months behind.

Three months…oh no, that will never do. My current home was on the 5th day of a 30 day escrow. Frantically, the search for another home was underway. In prayer, I could hear the spirit say, our home is waiting, and it was. It was in the same community for $130,000.00 less. While I like my home, I know this one is only temporary.

Brothers and sisters don’t get too comfortable here, for in a little while we will be home. Our perfect home is waiting. Our move-in date is already set. All the riches of the kingdom are in place. In the meantime, stay focused, there is work to do. There are others who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Will you share it with them?

Lord God,  thank you for preparing a place for us. Thank you for the reminder that this earthly place is only a temporary home. As foreigners in this land, help us to impact the culture with your love, grace and mercy. Help us as we go throughout the day to be examples of Christ. As we hope and long for our forever home, keep us steadfast on the journey and focused on you. Create in us a boldness to share the gospel and to live a life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
