Who Will Benefit?

Happy Wednesday! Today we will finish reading the chapter and verses in 1 Corinthians 14 that relate to prophesy and tongues. Enjoy reading.

20 Dear brothers and sisters, don’t be childish in your understanding of these things. Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil, but be mature in understanding matters of this kind. 21 It is written in the Scriptures[f]:

“I will speak to my own people
    through strange languages
and through the lips of foreigners.
But even then, they will not listen to me,”[Isaiah 28:11-12]
    says the Lord.

22 So you see that speaking in tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for the benefit of believers, not unbelievers. 23 Even so, if unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your church meeting and hear everyone speaking in an unknown language, they will think you are crazy. 24 But if all of you are prophesying, and unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your meeting, they will be convicted of sin and judged by what you say. 25 As they listen, their secret thoughts will be exposed, and they will fall to their knees and worship God, declaring, “God is truly here among you.”” – 1 Corinthians 14:20-25 NLT

Sisters and brothers, let us be mindful on how we display and use our gifts. God has given us talents and abilities to bring him glory. As you pray about your gifts, use discernment on when and where to use the gifts, trust God to make opportunities available for you to use your gifts. Be available, be humble and recognize the gift giver. Watch God work in the hearts of nonbelievers and believers.

Father God, thank you for waking us up this morning. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Lord, thank you for an opportunity to serve you with our whole heart. Lord, you know us. Lord, you know our various needs. Lord, thank you for seeing us and accepting us. Lord, use us and transform us into the people that you have called us to be. Lord, help us to be a light in the darkness and let us feel your presence around us. In Jesus name. Amen.

Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
