What Weapon Are You Using?

This post is from 2 Corinthians chapter 10, verses 1-6.

Good morning! Have you ever been accused by someone for being something you are not? Have you tried to do something good for someone, but all they do is complain about what you don’t do or did not do? Today, we will begin our reading in 2 Corinthians chapter ten with Paul defending his ministry.

“Now I, Paul, appeal to you with the gentleness and kindness of Christ—though I realize you think I am timid in person and bold only when I write from far away. Well, I am begging you now so that when I come I won’t have to be bold with those who think we act from human motives.

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 [a]We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.” – 2 Corinthians 10:1-6 NLT

It appears that Paul is constantly defending his ministry to people. However, Paul was direct, but humble in his correction. He explained his mission so that there would be no doubt amongst the readers and hearers of his words.

Sisters and brothers, let me point out some significant items in these verses that I plan to peruse through, through the remainder of this week.

  • We don’t rage war as humans do. (v.3)
  • – What do we do?
  • We use God’s weapons, not worldly weapons. (v.4a)
  • – Why?
  • God’s weapons are used to breakdown the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. (v.4b)
  • – How?
  • We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. (v.5a)
  • We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. (v.5b)
  • After you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient. (v.6)

Join me tomorrow as we dive deeper into these verses. In the meantime, get ready, we are about to rage war as Christians do. So, get prayed up and pray for me as we get equipped with the word of God and His weapons.

Are you ready?

Father God, in the name of Jesus we come before you in thanks for all that you have done for us. Lord, we thank you for your word that says no weapon formed against us will prosper. Lord, we know great is You that is in us than he who is in the world. Lord, we know that you are faithful and greater than anything we may ever face or know. Lord, we ask for your strength, wisdom, guidance, discernment, compassion and love to live within us, but not only live in us, but to be actively engaged and shining through us. Lord, we ask for you to pour out your Holy Spirit as we breakdown these verses this week. Lord, make us bold for you, remove the spirit of fear and doubt that continues to rob us of our peace. Lord, remove barriers/obstacles that prevent us from recognizing you actively at work in our lives and moving on our behalf. Lord, lead us today. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
