Today is the last Friday in 2017. This year has been full of surprises, but nothing came as a surprise to God. His presence has been all around us and his loving mercy carried us through.
“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.” 1 John 4:11-13 NLT
2018 is on the horizon. While we don’t know what is ahead, we have a loving Heavenly Father who does. Don’t be anxious about tomorrow, because He loves us and promises to be with us.
Will you allow the Lord to take up residence in your heart? ____ Will you invite Him into your heart and ask Him to remove the dead things that keep you from a relationship with him and/or extending love to others as he loves?
Lord, your love is greater than any love we know. Lord, as we move into the New Year, give us your peace and continue to change us. Lord, help us to grow closer to you and guide us as we seek opportunities to love one another. Lord, we don’t want to take things that are unpleasant to you into the new year. Lord, remove our bias behavior, anger, wicked thoughts, jealousy and hatred from our hearts and mind. Lord, as the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (KJV) Lord, please do the same for us. Lord, may our heart be renewed by your Spirit from this day forth until you carry us home. Lord, open our eyes to see your gracious love and compassion. Guide us in all of our ways. Cover our families and begin to chip away dissension that divides. Lord, soften our hearts and make us more aware of you. In Jesus name, Amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
