Prayer – July 24, 2024

Good morning! Today, we will continue praying, but I want to share a verse from Jeremiah 17:5-8 which some Bibles title the section “Wisdom from the Lord.”

Jeremiah 17:5-8 NLT

This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans,  who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
They are like stunted shrubs in the desert,
with no hope for the future.
They will live in the barren wilderness,
    in an uninhabited salty land.

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat  or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,  and they never stop producing fruit.”

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for the wisdom that you provide. We thank you for the ability to discern good from evil, truth from lies, hope from fear, and joy from despair. Lord, thank you for blessing us with a relationship with you. The peace you give us in our prayers, in difficult and good times is so precious to us. Lord, your peace is what we need today and the months ahead. Lord, give us clarity in our thoughts and in our speech. Lord, equip us with wisdom and understanding of your word. Help us to apply your word in every circumstance that we face.

Lord, only you know the outcome of today and tomorrow, so help us to focus our eyes on you and not be distracted by the things of this world. Lord, we continue to ask for prayer for our nation and countries around the world. Lord, we pray for ministries around the world who are caring for orphans, women, children, and men in need of food, healing, protection, and shelter. Lord, provide for each of their needs and strengthen those who are serving them.

Lord, we pray for leaders around the world to submit to you, and live for you. Lord, we pray that we can do the same. Lord, remove fear from the hearts of people who are paralyzed by the unknown or simply angry. Lord, will you touch them, give them hope that is only found in you, and remove the anger that has been building up in their hearts. Lord, release them from that prison of anger within themselves and set them free so that they can fully experience your love and love others with a joyful heart.

Lord, continue to be with those who are sick, hospitalized, limited or without mobility, struggling with depression, or mental health issues. Lord, heal them- in Jesus, name. Lord, be with us today as we wake-up and go about our day. Lord, stabilize our minds, give us refreshed and renewed thoughts, flood us with your peace, direct our words and cause our steps to be in alignment with you and your word. Lord, continue to work in our marriages, in our relationships, in our children, in the tone and way we speak to others and about others. Lord, build up our households in your name and heal the brokenhearted. Give rest to those who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and who may feel defeated. Remind them that they can rely on you and that strength and victory are always found in you – You are our strength, help us to rest in you knowing you know how to care for us. Lord, right now, we surrender this day to you – we put our hope, trust, and confidence in you. Continue to transform us. In Jesus name, amen.
