Good morning! Do you have someone who faithfully/without fail that will call you? Maybe they don’t call everyday or every weekend, but you know they will call you. When they do call sometimes it doesn’t feel like it was that long ago, especially as you provide updates on things that have occurred since your last call. Well, today, we will finish our reading in 1 Thessalonians where we are reminded of the most important call. Join me as we read.
Bible verse – 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28 NLT
“23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 24 God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
25 Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all the brothers and sisters with a sacred kiss.
27 I command you in the name of the Lord to read this letter to all the brothers and sisters. 28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”
Reflection
Apostle Paul was finalizing his letter to the believers at Thessalonica. He was filled with love for them and had given them a lot to consider, do, and pray about. However, Paul’s confidence wasn’t in them completing the task alone. Paul pointed the believers to God – the One who makes all things possible. He reminded the believers of the One who called them and encouraged with a reminder, He (God) is always faithful.
Sisters and brothers, who is calling you today?
When God calls, you won’t receive a scam alert or a request for your credit card number. You will hear so much more that will cause you to spiritually mature and be all that God has called you to be. Attune your ears, God is calling you too?
Trust His Peace!
Trust His Faithfulness!
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for everything that you have done and continue to do for us. God, daily we need your peace and strength in and around us. Sometimes the weight of this world (e.g., finances, work, medical conditions or reports, death, etc.) attempts to destroy our peace. Yet, we find peace in knowing You have everything under control. Thank you for your son Jesus Christ who came and saved us. Lord Jesus, there is no greater hope than you. Lord, strengthen our faith and resolve as we lean on you in every circumstance. Help us to forgive and demonstrate love. Help us to live out these verses in 1 Thessalonians in real-time. Lord, help us to speak words and live out our actions in alignment with Your will. Show your self faithful as we trust You to make us able to walkout your truth in our lives. Lord, continue to call us and direct our steps. Give us an obedient heart to serve and follow after you. Lord, remove the spirit of fear from our hearts and minds, and help us to trust you and your word every day of our lives. Lord, heal and restore marriages and make them better than new. Protect those who are single from falling into situations that don’t align with your will or plan for their lives. Lord, comfort those who feel alone and/or forgotten. Surround children with your love and perfect care. Keep them safe from harm and from those who desire to cause them harm. Lord, heal those who are brokenhearted and ashamed of circumstances in their lives. Lord, help and heal those who are struggling with depression, mental and physical illness, and spiritual health. Lord, heal the child with the cracked growth plate – let that child receive the appropriate medical care and don’t let it disrupt the child’s growth. Lord, we pray over lab reports and we ask that you bring the lab numbers in range. Lord, touch our nation and leaders around the world. Lord, may we all turn to you, trust you, and live in submission to you and your call on our lives. Lord, we thank you in advance for answering these prayers. In Jesus name, amen.
