Good morning! Praise God we made it to the start of a new week. The Lord is with us sisters and brothers. The Lord is with you. Trust Him.
As a recap of our studies, I want to give a snapshot of the verses that we read last week.
In verses 12-15 the author reminded us of our need to remember God’s word. In verses 16-18 the author reminded us of the Majesty/power of God’s word, and it ended with, “18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.” Today in verses 19-21 the author covers the meaning of God’s word. Join me as we finish 2 Peter chapter 1.
BIBLE VERSE – 2 Peter 1:19-21 NLT
“19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.“
REFLECTION
Sisters and brothers, we must read the word of God/the Bible for ourselves. God is inviting us to spend time in the word and the Holy Spirit will reveal to us all that God desires for us to learn and apply to our lives daily, if we invite Him. He won’t make us, but if we do our spirit will be awaken by the word of God and it will refresh those who are thirsty and are in need of being refreshed.
This week spend some time reading a chapter in the Bible (e.g., Psalm 139 or 91 or 136 or 34, Luke, Hebrews, John, James, etc.) and allow the word of God to refresh you.
If you don’t have a Bible you can go online to Biblegateway and read the New Living Translation (NLT), New King James (NKJV), New International (NIV) versions or if you are in the U.S., you can send an email to: contactus@maryewhiteministries.com and we will send a copy of the Holy Bible directly to you.
What will you read this week? ________
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for your word. Thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. Lord, thank you for keeping us this weekend and for your grace. Lord, we don’t know what today will bring, but we trust you and your plan for our lives today. Lord, we surrender our will to you and desire to be led by you all of our days. Lord, equip us with your word, which is truth. Help us to apply your word to our lives and to live it without boasting, but by people seeing your light shine in and through us. Lord, forgive us for the times when we dimmed our lights or we were distracted by the enemies schemes against us, or life circumstances. Lord, we want to be better and do better. Lord, change us. Help us with our reactions and give us the wisdom and discernment to stand up when necessary and to step back when you guide us to leave it in your hands. Lord, you know us and you know how to care for us, so we ask on behalf of every person reading this today that you hear our prayers for our families, marriages, children, work situations, living situations, addictions, grief, in the way we love others, and the way we walk with you. Lord, touch everything in our lives and make it new in you. In Jesus name, amen.
