Good morning! Each year we may hear what is your new year resolution. When I looked up the meaning on Google, it explained the Latin word is resolvere which means to loosen or release or another latin spelling is resolutio. The English word is resolve. However, the late middle English explains it as a resolution. The definition is: a firm decision to do something or not do something. Join me today as we pray for a firm decision to do something.
Bible Verse: Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT
“14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[e] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[f] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.“
Prayer
Father God, thank you for these verses today. Thank you for your desire to have a relationship with us. Thank you for never blocking us or removing us as a child or a friend. Thank you for continously reaching out to us and drawing us back to you. There is no one like you. Father we want to make a resolution to draw closer to you. We want to make a firm decision to follow you more this yeat.
Father God, empower us with inner strength through Your spirit. Christ Jesus, help us to trust you more and make Your home in our hearts. God, let our roots grow down in Your love and keep us strong. Give us the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. We want to fully experience the fullness of Christ’s love. We want to be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. We don’t want to miss one detail, one moment, or one opportunity that comes with living life in the power that comes from you.
Lord, strengthen our resolve. Helps us to remain focused. Help us to lean-in and draw closer to you every day of this year. Lord, when we get to the 356 day of this year we want to look back on how far you brought us and how much you have changed us for good. Lord keep working in us. Help us to see things as you see them. Help us to understand what you desire for us to learn and know. Help us to apply it to our daily lives.
Lord, if we are or become ill – we want to see you in the midst of our healing to healed..
Lord, if we are struggling financially – we want to see you as you turn our struggle to prospering and helping others and your church, one penny/dollar at a time.
Lord, if we need a mental break through – we want to feel you changing our mind set to align with Your truth. We want to hear Your words over our own and over the lies of Satan and his followers. We want to see You at work in our thoughts and how we love ourselves the way You love us.
Lord, whatever it is… Lord, transform us and remind us of what You have done for us and continue to do for us. We want to display that Christ is living in us – not with words, but in action and deed. Help us to be and/or become a great or greater reflection of who you are. In Jesus name, amen.
