Good morning! Including today there are three week days before the new year. Today our prayer focus will be on fixing our gaze.

Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:14-18 NLT

“¹⁴ We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus,^[d] will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. ¹⁵ All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.

¹⁶ That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are^[e] being renewed every day. ¹⁷ For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! ¹⁸ So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.“

Prayer

Father God we thank you for another morning and opportunity to give you all glory, praise, and thanks. God, we thank you for the ability to celebrate your son’s birth. We thank you for sending him on a mission to save us. Without that love and sacrifice for us we would never have eternal life. But because of your mercy and love, Christ’s sacrifice and your grace through Jesus – we can be saved.

Lord, thank for the words in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Thank you for forgiveness. Thank you for this new life in you. Lord, there is no greater hope than what you offer and give to us. Lord, help us to keep our eyes, our gaze, our focus on you.

Lord, when our back is against the wall, when we feel pressure on all sides, when we hear chatter, and when we feel like giving in – your word is there to remind us to never give up. Lord, strengthen us all and press in on us/our hearts to never give up our faith, our trust, or our belief in You and/or Your word. Lord, you are so good that there are times when walk through things in life and we don’t even realize that we have come out on the other side refined by fire – and renewed in our spirit. Lord, we want to thank for being so faithful that when we go through something our expectation is that you will see us through. Your presence with us and the guidance of your Holy Spirit continues lead us through every obstacle we encounter, and your faithfulness never ceases. You – Lord, never fail us.

Lord, be with each person who has a prayer request today. Lord, you know everything that each reader is going through – every emotion, fear, financial matter, mental insecurities or mental health issues, physical health challenge(s), pain or regret. Lord, we ask for you to overcome the fears that they have- remove that spirit of fear and replace it with faith and a sound mind. Lord, touch finances and help those who are trying to make ends meet and/or trying to make wise financial decisions. Lord, guide them with their income, bless them with good employment that provides a healthy worklife balance, good leaders, a good work environment, and bless them with a salary that grows and continues to meet their financial needs. Help them to bring Your light into their jobs and the people that they work with. Lord, let them be an example of your love in this world on their jobs and in their teams. Lord, bless them to be able to give as you so freely give to us.

Lord we pray for those who are struggling with the lies of the enemy and the world. Lord, we pray for your truth and love to speak louder than the negativity that is spoken over us. Lord, we pray that your word will fill us and remind us that we are secure in you. Lord, help everyone who is struggling with mental health issues. Lord, you know what is needed. Lord, cover them and protect their thoughts – and their words. Lord, fill their minds and mouths with words of kindness toward themselves. Help them to know that they are accepted by you and loved by you. Lord, help those who are in crisis today – calm them, help them to focus their heart and gaze on you.

Lord, we pray for those who have physical ailments. Lord, you know exactly what is going on inside their bodies. Lord, heal their aches and pains. Lord, for those under medical care – give their doctors wisdom on which treatment plan to create that will heal and not harm. Lord, give the medical providers compassion and kindness. Lord, heal those who are sick with colds or other respiratory illnesses. Help those who are struggling with MS, arthritis, dementia, heart disease, asthma, cancer, autoimmune disease, and or medical conditions that I did not mention.

Lord, we pray for our military men and women wherever they are and we ask that you cover them and protect them from harm. Lord, we pray for every family. Lord, we pray for every marriage and child. Heal homes and heal relationships that we have with loved ones. Help us to look to you to guide our families.

Lord, help us to focus on the things that will last – forever. Help us not to be so bothered by the temporary that we lose sight of the things that will last for eternity and for generations ahead. Keep changing us. Set our gaze and our focus, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
