Good morning, everyone! Enjoy today’s devotion and prayer. Have a good weekend.
Bible Verse – 1 John 5:6-12 NLT
” 6 And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross[b]—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. 7 So we have these three witnesses[c]— 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree. 9 Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son. 10 All who believe in the Son of God know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son.
11 And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.”
Reflection
The testimony from God is greater than any testimony we may ever read. It us the foundation of our faith – He (God) has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (Jesus Christ). Not only did he testify the truth, but there were three witnesses of it – the Spirit who is truth, the water of Christ’s baptism, and the shedding of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Sisters and brothers, whoever has the Son has life. Let’s be mindful how we treat those in Christ and let us be mindful that the mission is to go out and share God’s testimony with the world. There are souls hanging in the midst and there are only two places believers and unbelievers will go upon death – heaven or hell. Keep praying for those who don’t know, deny or are unsure about the truth of God’s testimony and His grace through Christ Jesus. Remember it was only by God’s grace that we were saved.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for your testimony and your loving grace. We thank you for the three witnesses and your Son Jesus. We are eternally grateful for you saving us from the sins that were set-up to destroy us. We are comforted in knowing all that you have done to secure a relationship with us for all eternity. Thank you for loving us enough to go through such lengths to bring us back into an unblemished relationship with you. In ourselves we are not perfect, we are not without sin, and we are not with truth, but because of Christ who is perfect, who was without sin, and was filled with the Spirit of truth – who took upon the sins of the world (e.g., my sin, your sin, our sin), and made away for us to be saved we can now have a personal relationship with You for eternity. God, we believe in Your Son Jesus, we believe that he came and gave up his life for us, we accept him as our Lord and Savior. God, forgive us of our sins (known and unknown) and continue to transform us into who you have called us to be. Help us to love on others and share the gospel message with them.
Lord, we lift up every prayer request, worry and concern to you – answer those prayers. We lift up every broken heart and every person who needs comforting today – give them peace. Lord, we lift up each person who is ill and ask for healing. In Jesus name we pray, amen!
