Remain In Fellowship

Good morning! Over the past week and up to today our reading helped us to understand why 1 John was written. Today in the verses that we will read, he further warns us and calls us to remain. Enjoy today’s devotion and prayer.

Bible Verse – 1 John 2:26-27 NLT

26 I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray27 But you have received the Holy Spirit,[h] and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit[i] teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”

Reflection

  • The Holy Spirit lives within you
  • The Holy Spirit teaches you everything you need to know
  • What the Holy Spirit teaches is true – its not a lie

When others try to lead you astray, listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading and remain in fellowship with Christ.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for another day. We thank you for never leaving us or abandoning us to this world and all of its devices. We thank you for Your son Jesus Christ who came to save us and reconcile us back to you. We thank you for the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us in Your truth.

Who are we to deserve such love and forgiveness, but You know us… and You still sent Your son for us. There is no greater love. Yet, you show us your love on full display so that we can learn to love like you. Lord, we want a love what you love. Break our hearts for the things that break your heart. Help us to show compassion and love over judgment and condemnation. Help us to live out your love in our homes, schools, churches, work environments, our neighborhoods and cities.

Lord, protect us from being led astray by non-believers and believers. Lord, protect our hearts and minds. Lord, equip us to share the gospel message with others so that they may know the truth and be set free.

Lord, you are able to change any situation and turn our lives around for your good. Lord, we welcome you and the Holy Spirit into our lives. Lead us today. Lord, be with the elderly and aging – comfort them and give them peace. Bring other Christians into their lives who will be trustworthy companions and friends. Lord, be with those who are battling loneliness or are feeling empty. Lord, be with them and remove those feelings. Awaken your Holy Spirit inside of them and fill them with acceptance and purpose. Lord, we pray for those who are under the care of a physician and we ask that you begin to heal open wounds, that you dissolve blood clots, that you restore lung capacity, that you regulate blood pressure, that you heal hearts, that you put cancer into permanent remission, and that you give physicians discernment and wisdom to help in the process.

Lord, we pray for those looking for employment, those seeking employees, and those starting new businesses. Lord, bring the right people into open positions. Lord, continue to work in us and transform us. Help us to always remain in fellowship with You. In Jesus name, amen.
