Just Because

Good morning! Today we will continue our reading in 1 John chapter 2. I love these reminders. Have a good day and weeken.

Bible Verse – 1 John 2:12-14 NLT

12 I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.[c]
13 I am writing to you who are mature in the faith[d] because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one.
14 I have written to you who are God’s children because you know the Father.
I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.

Key points that the author reflects on is the reason why he is writing and within those reasons there is an overflow of what we already know and affirmations of truth.

He wrote to those who:

  • are God’s children
  • are mature in the faith
  • are young in the faith

Do you fit in one of those categories? Then these writings are for you too.

The reminder to God’s children is:

  • your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.
  • you know the Father.

The reminder to the mature in faith:

  • you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.

The reminder to the young in faith:

  • you have won your battle with the evil one.
  • you are strong. God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.

Wherever you are in your walk of faith, there are gradually steps that continue to prove that there is victory in knowing God and accepting Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life. Don’t take these stages of faith for granted…they are your firm foundation. Don’t forget the things that you have overcome through Christ.

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us. Thank you for making a way for everyone to have a personal relationship with you. Thank you for reminding us of the stages in faith that we have gone through and are going through. Thank you for never leaving us abandoned to ourselves. Thank you for the truth of your word that grounds us and reminds us of your faithfulness.

Lord, we continue to lift up those who do not have a personal relationship with you and ask that you continue to pour out your love toward them. Lord, send godly Christians to minister to their hearts and meet them right where they are in life. Lord, let their words be as soft as doves and Your word be powerful and life changing. Lord, continue to use us to reach the least, lost and last.

Lord, we pray for healing in the lives of those who are broken in spirit and who have lost hope. We pray for the spiritually blind and ask that you open their eyes to see You at work.

Lord, we pray for those struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, and other mental health issues and we ask that You set them free from those things that are trying to rob them of fullness in you – and abundant life in you.

Lord, we pray for the parents who are expecting, those who have, and those who want. Lord, cover them and give the a renewed spirit, a refreshed mind, and strength to overcome all the obstacles that they have or may encounter. Lord, equip and comfort them.

Lord, continue to protect the youth in this world. Lead, our country and those in leadership of our nation. Cease the wars that are taking innocent lives. Lord, we pray for the service men and women, and their families help them to connect and strengthen their family ties. Watch over their families and provide for their needs. Comfort their children while they are deployed or on mission.

Lord, heal our families and strengthen our faith in you. Lead and equip us to lean on you. Help us to always trust you and never lose sight of the greater picture.

In Jesus name, amen.
