Love Him

Good morning. May the goodness of the Lord change our hearts today.

Bible Verse – 1 John 2:1-6 NLT

1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”

Reflection – Just a few key points

  • Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.
  • He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and the sins of all the world.
  • Those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him.

Prayer

Father God we thank you for loving us so much. We thank you for catching us before we fall and when we do fall – you lift us back up. Lord, you know every single detail of our lives. You know where and why we hurt. You know the secrets of our lives and situations that need your healing and resolve. Lord, thank you for your mission to proclaim the Good News to the poor, to release the captives, give sight to the blind, and set the oppressed free. Lord, thank you for the forgiveness of sins and for a new opportunity to obey you every day of our lives.

Lord, we desire to live in obedience with you. We want to know, feel and experience your love and freedom in our loves everyday. You have been so good to us. Lord, help us not to be hypocrites in our actions, words, or deeds. Help us to know you and live out your love in the world.

Lord, we pray for those who are broken in spirit. Lord, we pray that you will begin to touch the deepest roots of pain, trauma, scaring, and heal those areas of our lives. Where there is rejection – let us feel your acceptance. Where there is bitterness and unforgiveness – let there be reminders of your ability and willingness to forgive us of all our sins, and change the course of the callousness of our hearts. Where there is fear – let there be peace and confidence in You. Where there is judgment against others, reminds us that we will also be judged by the Judge of judges.

Lord, transform and lead us. Help us to be your hands and feet. Help us to be the light in the dark spaces that we find ourselves in. Lord, be our hope in the midst of an chaos and calm our spirit to trust you with every detail of our lives.

Lord, comfort those who are mourning. Lord, help them through this difficult time. Lord, allow their grieving and mourning to be processed in a healthy way.

Lord, we surrender our imperfections to you. Thank you for being our advocate who pleads our case and atones our sins. Thank you! Continue to change us from the inside out. In Jesus name, amen.
